25. What are the most important things you learned in this class?

I would say that the biggest thing that i learned from this class was how to cite sources properly and what to look for when citing them. This is the first class that i actually used a book to refer to once in a while with regards to citations and works cited.

24. What do you think might have been done differently in this class to have helped you better?

I feel that time management was an issue for me with this class. I knew that once i started writing my paper i would pretty much write its self. The hardest part that i found with it was researching and reading my sources. I feel that if you would have required students to write portions or more annotated bibs throughout the semester, it would have made it a little easier to stay on task.

23. Has blogging been helpful for you in this research project? In what way might blogging be better used for future classes?

I feel that blogging is a very good form of providing classroom community, especially in a virtual sense. In English 102, i believe that there was only one day in class that we were really asked for our opinions to try and help each other out with our research topics and proposals. If time does not allow in class, i think that blogging is a different approach to create this. Will i use it in my classroom someday....? Possibly..... depending on the course and topic. I do however feel that blogging is better used if all student need to comment on one central topic instead of everyone just commenting on their own blog. That way you are forced to see each others views instead of seeking them out.

22. Reflection after your final research paper submitted—how did you think you did, are you glad you chose that topic? etc.

I enjoyed my research paper primarily because writing about teaching motivates me to finish and become one. I feel that in order to be good at something in life you need to be passionate about it. Choosing a subject and researching it will not only allow me to be well informed about what not to do in a classroom, but will also aid me in assisting others when they become frustrated in a co-teaching situation. Teachers need to keep in mind that the students education is the top priority. Utilizing resources to provide the quality education is key.

21. Alternative titles for your research paper—the good, the bad, and the ugly (at least have 3, but they can all be good, prefereably)

20. Your revising plans, what tips helped most

I think that having a well organized outline helped me the most with writing my paper. I found that i had a clear vision as to how my paper was going to flow and i felt that as i read different sources, i would just jot down ideas on the side and then just plugged them into my outline. At times i also found that some of the material i was going to comment on i ended up pulling out because it was not going to contribute to the paper significantly.

19. Places visited online to help address grammar issues

I have honestly not even attempted to visit any online websites besides the ones that we were asked to go to in class. I am sure that as i pursue my masters i will write more and will keep it in mind to use them though.

18. List of your own worst grammar issues

Some of my worst grammar issues is that i use the same descriptive words over and over again. I know that i should use more descriptive words and i even search for some, but you would think that after a while my vocabulary would just increase and i would use them more naturally.

Ways to improve Co-teaching
- Co-teachers as peer coaches with regards to teaching techniques.
§ Source - Providing Immediate Feedback to Co Teachers Through
□ BIE
□ Immediate feedback from fellow teachers.
- Secure common planning time
§ Time must be efficient and use their time efficiently and in order of how they will be teaching the lesson
§ Co-teachers should always have an agenda for their planning sessions
§ Should have specific task prior to and after their meetings
§ General Education teacher suggested roles
□ Focus on mapping out the curriclum content that needed to be covered during the next week
§ Special education teacher suggested roles
□ Should be consistently checking the lessons to anticipate which students may have problems grasping
§ General Ed and Special Education teacher need to decide how they want to teach the lesson using models. Multiple co-teaching models can even be utilized in one lesson.
□ Examples
® Warm up/bell ringer utilizing on teach/one assist
◊ General education teacher could be taking role as special education teacher roams to room to assist.
® Migrate towards parallel teaching where you split up the class in to two heterogeneious groups and discuss the overaching theam of the a novel that you are reading. (With a better teacher to student ratio and a smaller group, students feel more comfortable to share and also ask for assistance more freely)
® Once objectives have been accomplished in smaller groups, bring the class back together utilizing a team teaching model.
® It is important that both teachers roles vary through out a lesson and that students with additional needs be addressed by both the Content teacher and the special education teacher.
® It is important for both the teachers to address how they will assess the students and also address which students that need additional help and how they both think is best to accomplish this, whether this be alternative teaching style or additional instruction.
® It is important for co-teachers to review their teaching styles with one another in a constructive way regarding their working relationship. If there are underlying problems that need to be addressed, it is only fair to bring them up.

Thesis statement of your paper

Co-teaching a classroom properly with structured activities and a cohesive co-teaching relationship has limitless benefits for students and teachers; forcing teachers to work together without the proper training and background often only causes confusion for the students.

Rough draft woes

I found that the hardest part of writing my rough draft was organizing the outline of the paper and just starting the paper. I am not a firm believer that you need a thesis to start your paper, but as you write it you may want to make a few attempts at writing it.
